Style Challenge: In with the Old

This week's Putting Me Together Style Challenge encouraged us to wear a piece of clothing we haven't worn in 6 months or more. I actually thought this would be difficult because I thought the only clothing I hadn't worn in that long was summer clothes, and I just wasn't ready to wear summery pieces even in wintery ways.  Then, I found this blouse, mixed in with my summer things:

This blouse is probably 6 or 7 years old and I am sure that I haven't worn it in at least 4 years. Honestly, I don't know how it escaped my annual clothing purges, especially since I didn't wear it once in my whole year of no-new-clothes buying.

I think when I wore this shirt in the past, I always paired it with a black sweater. This time, I pulled a color from the lovely pattern to create this ensemble. I think I kept this shirt because I love the tiny floral/paisley pattern and the bow detail. I think I stopped wearing it because the length is a little shorter than has been fashionable in recent years and I didn't have any cardigans or blazers at the time that were long enough to balance it out.

This time around, I balanced the girliness and length of the blouse with a nubby, oversized sweater, and somehow, that made the shirt work in a new way for me. Thanks, Audrey, for giving us this style challenge. It was fun to find something "new" in my old clothes.
