Friday Extras: Extra Blue
Did you know April is national child abuse awareness month? This year, I'm getting involved by joining the "I Stand Up" movement sponsored by the Dallas Children's Advocacy Center. One way you can show your support for this cause is by wearing blue for "show your blue day." I'm showing my blue here on the blog today with this blue ensemble. And since it's April in Texas, the Texas fields are showing their blue, too. The sides of our freeways all look like this throwback photo from mine and Adam's engagement shoot:
And since April is also national poetry month, I thought I'd share one of my favorite poems about the beauty of nature, which also celebrates the color blue in nature:
i thank You God for most this amazing
day:for the leaping greenly spirits of trees
and a blue true dream of sky; and for everything
which is natural which is infinite which is yes
and a blue true dream of sky; and for everything
which is natural which is infinite which is yes
(i who have died am alive again today,
and this is the sun’s birthday; this is the birth
day of life and of love and wings: and of the gay
great happening illimitably earth)
and this is the sun’s birthday; this is the birth
day of life and of love and wings: and of the gay
great happening illimitably earth)
how should tasting touching hearing seeing
breathing any–lifted from the no
of all nothing–human merely being
doubt unimaginable You?
breathing any–lifted from the no
of all nothing–human merely being
doubt unimaginable You?
(now the ears of my ears awake and
now the eyes of my eyes are opened)
now the eyes of my eyes are opened)
e.e. cummings
