Friday Extras: Cats for the Catless

You may have heard by now about New York's very first Cat Cafe, which drew long lines of people waiting hours for the free coffee ("cat"uccinos) and cuddling with a group of adoptable cats. Read more here.

As you are probably aware if you've ever read this blog before, every day is cat cafe day at my place. There's always a cat and a cup of coffee at hand. But if you find yourself without a cat and a cup of joe, just swing by a Starbucks (it's half-off frappuccino week during the afternoons), and avail yourself of one of these options:

Some universities, such as Duke and UNC Chapel Hill, are offering dog and cat therapy to help alleviate finals-related stress: http://www.wncn.com/story/25393323/therapy-dogs-bring-stress-relief-to-unc-during-exams.

If you have a kid who needs a little help reading, West Suburban Humane Society of Chicago has a new program for kids to read to and cuddle with their shelter cats: http://www.chicagonow.com/raining-cats-dogs/2014/04/cat-tales-kids-find-purr-fect-reading-buddies-at-animal-shelter/

If you're allergic or you'd rather stay at home, tune in to one of these live kitten cams: http://www.ustream.tv/ffrchttp://www.animalplanet.com/tv-shows/too-cute/games-more/kitten-cam.htm; or http://explore.org/live-cams/player/kitten-rescue-cam
