40 things to do instead of watching TV
This year for Lent, I limited my solo TV viewing time (a.k.a. my binge-watching time) to one day a week. Before that, I wasn't necessarily binge-watching on multiple days of the week, but if I sat down to watch a show during my lunch break, I would often watch more and end up wasting a lot of time. Here are some of the things I've been able to do instead of watching TV:
Write songs
Write in a journal
Write blog entries
Write a letter
Call my grandma
Call my mom
Call to make an eye doctor appointment
Read just for fun
Read to learn something new
Read the Bible
Pray
Clean out the coffee machine
Put away laundry
Put away papers
Sort mail
Sort email subscriptions
Bake something
Make something
Sketch something
Color in a coloring book
Plan outfits
Plan blog posts
Plan daily tasks
Go outside
Go shopping
Go to the office to get work done
Go to a lecture
Go for a walk
Take a nap
Take pictures of cats
Take time to enjoy my lunch
Listen to audio books
Listen to music
Listen to the birds sing
Listen for Divine Inspiration
Do yoga
Do coffee with a friend
Practice piano
Practice guitar
Sing
I enjoyed this year's Lenten discipline so much that I intend to make it my regular-life habit.
Did you give anything up for Lent? How did it go? What did you learn?
