2015 Dreams
It's been about a year since I moved my blog from my music site to The Beautiful Extras, and it was a good year. Here are a few highlights:
I completed the 2014 No-New-Clothes Challenge. Adam and I took many, many outfit pictures and we learned a lot about how and where to photograph outfits. I bought 3 new pieces according to the rules and remixed them several ways. I learned to ignore the siren call of Target's clearance racks. Now that it's the new year, I am shopping again, and I'll be reporting on that soon.
I wrote about books, movies, DIY, the writing process, and my life in general, like our trip to Chicago for an academic conference, and our Tennessee road trip.
I wrote the most in the month of July (no classes to teach :)) and the least in the month of November (approximately 1 zillion papers to grade. :))
I started a feature called "Friday Extras," then dropped it, and now I'm thinking of picking it up again.
The most popular post according to views was "5 cheap date ideas for nerds."
My favorite personal style post was about what I wore to the Doctor Who Season Premiere.
My favorite DIY was my polka-cats bag.
My favorite film or book post was: "The Groot is the New Twerk (and 4 other reasons I love Guardians of the Galaxy)"
My favorite set of posts was my series on "How to write a dissertation."
Now, as we march into 2015, I'm looking forward to this year's challenge. It's not a dramatic one like last year's, but I'm making it public to encourage follow-through:
This year's blog goal is to write 5 times a week.
I hope to continue writing the kinds of things I wrote about in 2014, with a greater focus on my music and my ongoing struggle with cleaning and organizing around the house. (Posting about these things online holds me accountable for them).
A hearty thanks is due to all who have read, commented, reposted, or talked to me in person about this blog. It has been a fun experiment that I hope will yield even better results in 2015.
